Restaurants in Metro Vancouver have been struggling recently, with many in the past couple of weeks. One of these restaurants, The Raving Gamer Bistro, located in Langley, has closed due to “economic uncertainty” and . “In the face of ever-increasing cost of business, economic uncertainty, and impending 48 months of SkyTrain construction we can no longer continue to operate as a great little Local community hub,” said The Raving Gamer on Instagram.

The Raving Gamer was known best for its extensive collection of board games people could play while dining on its menu of locally sourced eats. “For those of you who have just discovered us, I am sorry that we could not build a long-term relationship with you. For those of you who we have built a long-term relationship with, we really will miss you and are beyond sorry that the business did not do better earlier so we could continue to have that relationship with you into the future,” continued the bistro.

“We want to thank you all for the years you have given us and we apologize for any inconvenience our sudden shutdown will cause you, but some of this is not our choice and we have to do what is necessary in the face of the situation.” The Raving Gamer isn’t the only Metro Vancouver restaurant that has cited SkyTrain construction as the reason for its closure. In December 2023, one of its Langley locations to make way for the new Willowbrook Station.
