We have yet another reminder that the NFL is a fickle beast: the New York Jets dropped a game they should have won, a dour 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos at a rain-soaked MetLife Stadium. Kicker Greg Zuerlein had a chance to win it at the death with a 50-yard field goal, but missed to sink New York hearts. Coming off back-to-back wins, the Jets were in a confident mood, but all the good faith they had gained from the previous two weeks has now been wasted.
In a game that was tough to watch, the Jets led the Broncos in all the key stats except the scoreline. The Jets had more total yards, more first downs, ran 14 more plays and had the ball for a little over three minutes more. The Jets' first four drives went as follows: fumble, punt, punt, punt before a 23-yard field goal from Zuerlein got points on the board.
