Mercedes-Benz has taken the next step in its electrification strategy with the unveiling of its first “VAN.EA”(Van Electric Architecture) prototypes. These prototypes represent the future of the company’s medium and large vans, all of which will be based on the modular and scalable VAN.
EA platform. The VAN.EA platform is designed to offer versatility, supporting both luxury private vans and premium commercial models.
It allows for a range of configurations, from family vans and VIP shuttles to high-end, spacious limousines, catering to the needs of both private and business customers. OS), an 800-volt charging system and a 22 kW AC charger. They will also come with either front-wheel drive or a 4×4 option, ensuring a variety of choices for different driving needs. Following successful chassis, electric powertrain, battery, and high-voltage component tests, VAN.
EA prototypes will now undergo cold-weather testing in Sweden as winter approaches, marking another key milestone in the development process. These rigorous trials aim to ensure that the vehicles can deliver optimal performance even in the harshest conditions. The very first of these prototypes have begun to hit public roads, with an official debut of vehicles on the VAN.
