Saturday, August 31, 2024 The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) anticipates over 48,000 travelers will pass through the checkpoint at Memphis International Airport (MEM) during the 2024 Labor Day Weekend, spanning from August 29 to September 3. The busiest travel day is expected to be Friday, August 30, when more than 9,900 passengers are projected to pass through security. To ensure a smooth travel experience, MEM recommends that passengers arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time.

This is particularly crucial for those with early morning flights between 4 and 7 a.m., when security lines tend to be the longest.

Travelers can also save time by checking in online via their airline’s website before heading to the airport. It’s advisable for passengers to keep an eye on their flight schedules and any updates by contacting their airlines directly, as airlines manage all aspects of ticketing, scheduling, gate operations, and baggage handling. Given the high volume of travelers, MEM’s parking lots are expected to reach full capacity on peak travel days.

To assist drivers, additional signage will be in place, and extra parking staff will be available to guide vehicles to open spots. For added convenience, those parking in the blue or yellow lots might consider dropping off luggage and other passengers at the terminal before finding a parking space. Shuttle services are available to transport passengers between the blue and yellow parking lots .
