Friday, December 27, 2024 Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP), a leading event venue in Victoria, Australia, has unveiled a significant capital upgrade to its precinct ahead of the Australian Open and an exciting lineup of events in 2025. The A$20 million (US$12.4 million) investment will enhance the facilities and set a new standard for major events in the region.

Key upgrades include a new telescopic awning over Rod Laver Arena’s rooftop bar and restaurant, Upper Deck, improvements to John Cain Arena’s retractable roof and seating bowl, and a redesign of all 31 private suites at the venue. Additionally, Rod Laver Arena will introduce its first contactless retail outlet, offering faster service and more choices. It will join only two other venues in Australia to feature this technology.

M&OP’s Chief Operating Officer, Megan O’Reilly, expressed the importance of the upgrades: “These works are designed to cater to the future of Melbourne & Olympic Parks, with a packed events calendar, venues operating seven days a week, and major sporting and entertainment events lined up throughout 2025. We are committed to maintaining the gold standard for live events in Victoria, and these upgrades ensure an exceptional experience for our guests, players, and hirers.” Situated along the Yarra River, the 44-hectare precinct offers public recreational spaces and plays a vital role in Melbourne’s cultural and social landscape.
