After being appointed for the role at he personal request of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Ms Cohen had previously worked for the late monarch for 17 years. She had firstly worked as her press secretary, before moving to the role of private secretary.

Speaking to the Australian Herald Sun, Ms Cohen - who is originally from Brisbane - said that she agreed to work for Meghan and Harry for six months, however ended up staying in the role for a year and a half. This was due to the fact they "couldn’t find a replacement". As well as describing working for Meghan and Harry as being like "working with teenagers" in a brutal three-word verdict, Mr Cohen said that during the couple's first tour to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, she ended up being "screamed at".
