The 29029 – a reference to the height in feet of Mount Everest – has opened its fourth restaurant in Hill, Bournemouth town centre. Owner Amit Malla travelled to India and Nepal where he took influence for his restaurants and brought back 18 new paintings for his Bournemouth restaurant costing about £1,500. The impressive paintings adorning his walls was done by Nepalese artist Mahesh Acharya, who has had work showcased in Seoul, South Korea and Japan.

Amit, who also owns The 29029 in Wareham, Broadstone and the recently opened one in Lower Parkstone, said his new venture is in response to increasing popularity. He said: “Our other restaurants in Wareham and Broadstone have been very popular with guests, and we’ve had people come from and beyond. “So now we have opened our first restaurant in Bournemouth to make the journey shorter for those travelling from there.

“Bournemouth is also a tourist spot and has lots of visitors come here; we want to attract more people to the town. “There are not many Indian Nepalese restaurants in Bournemouth and other ones similar have very high prices.” The 29029 celebrates 10 years of business later this year and Amit is hoping to mark the occasion with much success at his fourth restaurant.

A flick through the menu reveals dishes to suit various taste buds, including curry labrador (not made from the dog) but a type of south Indian home style curry with fresh coconut, lamb or chicken. There’s also cinnamon glazed duck brea.
