I’ve never been to a concert where I’ve been asked to put my hands in the air as much as the crowd was at McFly. I’ve never seen them live before but the band seemed every bit as energetic as I imagined they would have been in the 00’s when they performed in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday, August 21. Performing as part of the Bay Series - Wales' brand-new premier concert series at the custom-built, open-air site, Alexandra Head, the band performed all of their well-known classics alongside some of their newer tracks and the crowd, who were warmed up by Eurovision star Sam Ryder, who saved his famous 'Space man' track until last.

What really shone through is that I don't think anyone can say they don't love a bit of McFly, especially if you’re a millennial or part of Gen Z, for which I really got to grips with why during this particular gig. It was just before social media truly exploded and whenever I think back to that time, where we were on the cusp of the fast-paced world we know today, those are the kinds of things I think about.
