A family owned care home celebrated its 30th anniversary with a garden party and a cake in the shape of a house. Michael and Sue Newman, the owners of Bramble Cottage Retirement Home in Patcham, marked the milestone with a garden party for the residents. Special guest Brighton and Hove Mayor Mohammed Asaduzzaman arrived in his chains of office and chatted with residents and staff.

Bramble Cottage, which cares for elderly residents, plays a key part in the community. As a family-run care home, the owners said they have always had a "hands-on approach" with an emphasis on a personalised care service in a homely and friendly environment.
