Pune: The maximum temperature in Shivajinagar has started increasing, following a prolonged period of cooler weather amid incessant rainfall, with the Met department expecting it to climb up around 30°C by mid-Aug. SD Sanap, a scientist with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune, said, “Over the next few days, day temperature is likely to fluctuate, with some sunny periods alternating with cloudy conditions. As the rainfall intensity has reduced and continuous showers have subsided, the maximum temperature is showing a rising trend.

” The weather data for Shivajinagar revealed that the maximum temperature on Thursday was 29.4°C — 1.9° above normal for this time of the year.

The minimum temperature stood at 22.6°C — 0.7° above the normal.

On Aug 2, the maximum temperature in Shivajinagar stood at 25.5°C,while till Aug 5, it rose to 27.8°C.

On Aug 6, it further increased to 28.4°C. The forecast for the next seven days showed generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall in the city.

The intensity, however, is expected to decrease compared to the recent wet spell, allowing the mercury to climb towards the 30°C-mark around Aug 13.
