The Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) will be releasing a new documentary on the cricketing journey of Hayley Matthews, the West Indies women’s skipper. Matthews will lead the Barbados Royals against the Guyana Amazon Warriors as the 2024 edition of the WCPL bowls off from seven o’clock tonight, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. Tomorrow, the home team Trinbago Knight Riders will square off against the Barbados Royals at the same venue.

The three teams will be captained by Hayley Matthews (Barbados Royals), Stafanie Taylor (Guyana Amazon Warriors) and Deandra Dottin (Trinbago Knight Riders). Matthews and Taylor are rated in the top 10 T20 all-rounders internationally while Dottin is one of the most destructive batters in the women’s game, Off the field, Matthews is the focus of ‘Life Stories’, a film which will be telecast on Willow in the USA, TNT Sport in the UK, TV6 in Trinidad, Fancode in India, Fox Sports in Australia and SportsMax in the Caribbean. The flick will also be available to view on the Caribbean Premier League’s YouTube channel.

The biopic features Matthews from her childhood in her native Barbados, to winning the T20 World Cup among her many accomplishments.
