SORRENTO, Fla. – Mary Elizabeth Higgins, née Spinola, passed away much too young on Aug. 19, 2024, at the age of 58, in Sorrento, Fla.

Born on Dec. 17, 1965 in Waterbury, Conn., Marybeth, as she was affectionately known, grew up primarily in Beacon Falls and completed her education at Naugatuck High School, where she formed many friendships and laid the foundations for her future.

Marybeth’s laughter was contagious and she was cherished for her keen sense of humor and profound love for her family, bringing joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew her. She was an avid music enthusiast who loved going to live concerts. She enjoyed a good movie as much as a good book, and always found a certain peace in the simple joy of planting and tending to her beautiful flowers.

Her culinary skills were second to none, often bringing people together over good food and conversation. One of Marybeth’s favorite places was the beach, where she spent many memorable moments with her loved ones, and was always looking forward to the next family beach vacation. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her deeply: daughters Kaitlin Ingalls (née Higgins) and Rachel Higgins; sons AJ, Michael and Franco Higgins; her father Eugene Spinola; and her siblings Mario and Monica Spinola.

Marybeth was preceded in death by her mother, Albina Spinola, and sister, Karen Spinola. Marybeth’s life was a testament to her enduring spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her. He.
