Manchester Airport has become the first in the UK to adopt a scheme that tackles rogue parking traders. The airport has signed up to the International Parking Community's (IPC) Accredited Airport Parking Provider (AAPP) scheme. The initiative aims to ensure high standards for Meet & Greet and Park & Ride services, protecting passengers from unethical practices.

The scheme introduces a framework to protect motorists from fraudulent practices, including strict standards and audits, 'enhanced consumer protection', and a clear complaints procedure. Parking providers must adhere to standards and undergo regular audits to ensure compliance. The scheme also ensures a high level of service and safeguards against financial losses, compromised safety, and potential vehicle damage caused by rogue traders.

Motorists can now trust accredited providers, identifiable through an official AAPP badge, guaranteeing the highest level of service. Accredited providers can also be easily found via the website www.aapp.

uk. Will Hurley, CEO of the IPC, said: "The IPC is dedicated to ensuring that passengers have a safe and pleasant experience when using Meet & Greet or Park & Ride services at airports. "The AAPP scheme will not only protect consumers but also elevate the standards of the entire industry.

" The rise of rogue traders within the airport Meet & Greet and Park & Ride services has resulted in significant financial and safety risks for travellers. These fraudulent operators exploit unsuspect.
