A man recalled what it was like visiting what he described as the "strangest country in the world". Jordan, who runs the Counting Countries channel on YouTube, chronicled his time in Turkmenistan - a country located in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north and northeast, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south and southwest, and the Caspian Sea to the west.

But according to the vlogger, he's never seen anything like it. In a clip posted online, he said: "This is the strangest country in the world - there are no people around anywhere." He then took viewers across the capital, adding: "The city [Ashgabat] is full of these crazy, lavish monuments, there is no traffic - malls, hotels are all empty so the question is where is everyone?" It's a valid query considering Turkmenistan's population exceeds seven million.

Jordan noted: "After visiting more than 130 countries, this place is unlike anywhere I have ever been. The president requires all buildings and cars to be white. Tourists are under strict requirements to have a guide with you at all times and are banned from visiting certain places and cities.

" Jordan's next stop was an airport, where employees seemed to outnumber anyone actually flying through it. Then he walked along to municipal structures, a cemetery, and traditional yurt camps. Each location had something in common – it was empty.

What's more, he revealed Turkmenistan restricts access to most websites and ap.
