Vadodara: A disturbing incident unfolded in Kankuthambla village of Panchmahal district, where a 30-year-old man was tied to the hood of a car and driven through a market over suspicion of theft . The incident took place around noon in the village in Godhra taluka and was caught on video, sparking outrage. Police registered an offence on Friday.

Suraj Bavri said he had gone to a shop to purchase bitter gourd seeds. He told police he had handed over a Rs 500 note and got Rs 470 in change. The shopkeeper later accused him of not handing over the money and raised an alarm.

Bavri was caught, tied to the car and driven through the market to humiliate him. A bystander urged the shopkeeper and others to stop and immediately informed the police. Authorities arrived on the scene, untied Bavri, and registered the offence.

Bavri was also booked for attempted theft as police continue their investigation into the matter.
