Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced Tuesday that Diego Santoscruz has been charged with the murder of a mother and daughter after allegedly crashing into their vehicle head-on while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in Temple City. On Aug. 17, at around 1:04 p.

m., Santoscruz was allegedly driving a Toyota Scion xB while under the influence of alcohol when he struck the victims’ Honda CR-V head-on near the intersection of Temple City Boulevard and Gidley Street. Jennifer Argueta and 10-year-old Sabrina Argueta were killed in the crash.

The girl’s father, who was driving the car, was injured but survived. “This tragedy serves as a stark and heartbreaking reminder of the severe consequences that come with driving under the influence,” said Gascón in an email. “Our office is committed to ensuring that the individual responsible for this horrific incident is held fully accountable for their actions.

” Santoscruz is charged with murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving under the influence, according to a news release. Authorities previously said that Santoscruz was on probation for a DUI at the time of the crash and driving with a suspended license. Santoscruz is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept.
