Police arrested a man in Mumbai for the murder of a beautician in Jodhpur. The accused, Gulamuddin Farooqui, allegedly killed the woman for her gold ornaments. NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old beautician, Anita Chaudhary, whose body was chopped and buried in a pit in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, police said on Thursday.

The accused, Gulamuddin Farooqui, had been absconding for nine days before he was apprehended in South Mumbai. The arrest followed a tip-off that Gulamuddin was hiding in Mumbai, after which he was taken into custody by a joint team of V P Road police and Rajasthan police officials. He was subsequently handed over to Jodhpur police for further investigation.

Anita Chaudhary was allegedly killed by Gulamuddin in the last week of October, reportedly for the gold ornaments she was wearing. After the murder, her body was dismembered and buried in a 10-foot pit near Gulamuddin’s residence. The crime came to light on October 28 when a case was registered.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Anita had visited Gulamuddin’s house on the day she went missing. His wife later confessed to the police that her husband had committed the murder. While Gulamuddin fled to Mumbai to evade capture, his wife was arrested for her involvement in the crime.
