In 2020, Malvi Malhotra sustained injuries in her stomach when she was stabbed thrice by producer-stalker Yogesh Singh in Mumbai. In her words, the knife incision in her stomach was about 1.5 inches and what started with a professional meeting turned into him proposing her marriage.
Over time, the producer kept harassing her by messaging and stalking. After four years, following a legal case, Malvi received justice against Yogesh, who was found guilty of the attempt to murder her. A Sessions Court in Mumbai, last week, convicted and sentenced Yogesh to three years of rigorous imprisonment.
Speaking to News18 exclusively, Malvi says, “There’s finally a sense of relief. I’ve been fighting for the last four years. There was so much pressure and a lot of disturbances.
But the truth finally came out. There was a lot of mental trauma I went through. More than the physical scars, it was the mental agony that impacted me.
” A post shared by MALVI MALHOTRA (@malvimalhotra) Following the incident, Malvi recalls how it took her ‘months to leave the fear behind’. “It was very difficult initially. I used to be extremely scared.
I constantly felt like someone was following and chasing me. But my family, especially my dad, helped me. He told me that physical injuries would heal but I shouldn’t live my life with fear.
He told me to learn self-defense and forced me to step out of the house and go shopping or do something else that makes me happy. I finally understood that it’.
