Monday, November 25, 2024 Malaysia has gained remarkable global recognition, ranking as the 22nd friendliest country in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The country made an impressive leap of 16 positions compared to last year, outperforming its regional counterparts Singapore (24th), Indonesia (33rd), and Vietnam (35th). In Southeast Asia, Malaysia placed third behind Thailand (9th) and the Philippines (19th). These rankings are based on a global survey of over 17,000 respondents conducted between March 22 and May 23, 2024.

Singapore retained its 24th position, while Indonesia and Vietnam demonstrated notable progress, securing the 33rd and 35th spots, respectively. Vietnam’s nine-place advancement from the previous year underscores the growing reputation of Southeast Asia as a region synonymous with warmth and hospitality. Globally, Canada topped the list as the friendliest country, followed by Spain and New Zealand, showcasing a diverse representation of global destinations.

Malaysia, celebrated for its vibrant cultural tapestry and inclusive spirit, continues to captivate international visitors. Last year, it welcomed nearly 29 million tourists, solidifying its position as Southeast Asia’s most visited destination. The country’s progressive visa policies, which exempt travelers from 162 countries and territories, play a significant role in attracting tourists.
