Singapore’s cross-border travel scene witnessed a dynamic transformation in 2024, as buses emerged as the preferred mode of transport for an increasing number of travelers.

redBus, the world’s largest bus ticketing platform, reported a surge in bookings, with over 180,000 bus seats reserved by Singapore-based travelers throughout the year. This shift highlights a growing preference for cost-effective, convenient, and sustainable travel options. The platform revealed a 20% increase in new users from Singapore, driven predominantly by millennials and Gen Z travelers.

These younger adventurers are opting for affordable and eco-friendly options for regional getaways. Over 124,000 tickets were also booked by travelers from neighboring countries heading to Singapore, further showcasing the platform’s regional appeal. “Singaporeans are increasingly embracing buses for cross-border travel, not just for affordability but also for the convenience and sustainability they offer,” noted Krishnan Ramaswami, Chief Business Officer of redBus.
