The smash hit musical of Baz Luhrmann's iconic film Moulin Rouge is to head to Manchester for the very first time. The production that has wowed audiences on Broadway in New York and on London's West End will head out on its first ever world tour in 2025. And today it has been revealed that Manchester will get the show for an epic, extended run of eight weeks at the city's Palace Theatre .

Moulin Rouge the musical is based on the 2001 Oscar-winning movie which starred Nicole Kidman as the Moulin Rouge's dazzling star Fantine and Ewen McGregor as the penniless poet Christian who wins her heart. Since then it has won a plethora of awards and played to an army of fans in New York and in the West End where it is currently playing at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Now, in 2025, audiences in Manchester will get chance to see the spectacular show on home turf when it plays at the Palace Theatre on Oxford Road. Performances are from Wednesday 20 August to Saturday 4 October 2025. Theatregoers will get to "enter a world of splendour and romance, of eye-popping excess, of glitz, grandeur, and glory" according to publicity for the show.
