Huddersfield Town head coach Michael Duff has acknowledged that his side need to “react better” to adversity as they look to put a disappointing week behind them at Reading tomorrow afternoon. The Terriers head into the clash at the Select Car Leasing Stadium off the back of registering consecutive home defeats to Blackpool and Northampton Town. Town had begun their League One campaign in positive fashion with four wins from their opening five matches, but suffered two setbacks on home soil to leave them on 12 points from seven games played.

Duff believes he has identified a crucial factor that has led to their recent defeats, but the head coach recognises the problem isn’t a quick fix. “We’ve just not reacted well to any sort of adversity,” said Duff . “I’ve looked at the group from pre-season all the way through, we played some good teams in pre-season, the shape looked good, we looked organised, we looked strong, we played some good football, and we started the season in the same mould, but we sort of had everything on the line, [whereas] in pre-season there wasn’t as much pressure on.

“We scored first in all the other league games. This week has shown us a vulnerability that when something goes against the group, we need to get to the bottom of what it is, but there’s almost a panic. I don’t think it’s through a lack of application, it’s probably a cultural thing of ‘oh no it’s going wrong again’, and they don’t know how to react in the.
