IRISH commuters are set for a major boost as a new bus service will launch very soon. A new 24/7 bus service will launch between Limerick City and Shannon Airport . The National Transport Authority announced the new round-the-clock service.

The 343 Bus Eireann route from Limerick Bus Station to the airport will operate 24/7. There will be services every 20 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes at off-peak times on weekdays. Between midnight and 4am it will switch to an hourly service.

The changes will take effect from Sunday August 25. Bus Eireann and the NTA have said "100 per cent of timetabled services" will be fully accessible with low floor access. The NTA also announced that a number of other services in Clare will be enhanced, including the 330 route to Ennis and Newmarket-on-Fergus, along with the 316 and 317 services connecting to Sixmilebridge.

Bus Éireann CEO Stephen Kent said: "Bus Éireann is delighted to introduce these improved services between Limerick, Shannon and Ennis, significantly increasing transport options for passengers," NTA Chief Executive Anne Graham added that the "revised network will operate at a higher frequency which will benefit communities across the region who want to use public transport to get to work, school or attend leisure activities in the area". Niall Kearns, Airport Director at The Shannon Airport Group also welcomed the change. It comes as Aer Lingus is offering new flights across the full year to a popular destination.
