1 2 Prayagraj : To assess the crowd density at static points, particularly ghats, streets leaving and entering the mela campus and public places using AI for crowd management in the 2025 Mahakumbh as well as to prevent excessive crowd gathering at critical points on the basis of AI predictive modelling , mela police authorities are interacting with IT experts to finalise the use of technologies for crowd management and accurate people count. They are also discussing challenges faced by the police and administrative officers in crowd management at length and are planning to procure the predictive software required. Apart from this, mela police officials have also asked IT experts to study pattern of the crowd that had gathered at all the critical points during Maha Kumbh 2019.
Inspector general of police (Prayagraj range) Prem Gautam told TOI that mela police will use latest technology to assess crowd strength at particular points, including railway stations, bus stands, ghats, and other areas for better crowd management. For that, mela police authorities are interacting with IT experts and seeking out the best possible equipment to deal with the situation. Asserting that millions of pilgrims and visitors would be arriving at the banks of the Ganga to take holy dips, particularly on the main days, officials of the mela police will be maximising the use of AI-driven cameras installed in and around the mela campus.
