You’ve probably heard of the mythical, one-horned, majestic unicorn — but have you ever seen one? At one Central Massachusetts farm, there was magic in the air this weekend, with unicorns lurking about. Every summer, “real” unicorns make their way out of hiding to The Farm at Summit Wynds in Holden for one weekend only — drawing in hundreds of curious people for an annual Unicorn Experience . This weekend, July 27-28, from 10 a.

m. until 2 p.m, guests traveled from near and far for an opportunity to see unicorns, eat lavender ice cream, sip on lavender lemonade, jump in a bouncy castle, meet a storytelling princess and take turns riding ponies.

The venue, located at 69 Summit Road, is on the grounds of a lavender farm , and though the lavender season is past its peak, guests attending the unicorn event have an opportunity to overlook pastures and Mount Wachusett. The “unicorns” are horses with a realistic-looking horn on their forehead, secured with headband-like straps and harnesses to prevent them from falling. There are four “unicorns” for guests to visit: Cupid, Pearl, Sparkles and Onyx.

Each unicorn has a unique look and personality. Pearl is described as a “rare and beautiful Unicorn that allows everyone who sees her to shine brightly,” according to Summit Wynds’ official website. Sparkles is known for his “fun spirit,” and playful, glittery personality.
