Picture: Brian McEvoy The winners of the first ever edition of Love Island All Stars have revealed they both have Irish ancestry. Molly Smith and Tom Clare paired up as the show was airing and won the show on February 19.

Love Island All Stars is a spin-off of the original Love Island series featuring contestants of past series. Maya Jama returned as the presenter of the show. The pair, who are one of the few couples still together after the show ended, revealed they both have Irish grandparents.

The couple revealed that both their maternal grandfathers were from Ireland. Molly’s grandfather hails from Dundalk, Co Dublin, while Tom’s grandfather was born in Kilkenny. “My middle name is Patrick”, Tom told the Irish Independent.

Asked about whether they had noticed their grandfather’s Irish accent, Molly said that it was difficult to remember as she was so young. “I know he was loud and buoyant. It’s hard to realise because you grow up so young around it.

I wish it had traveled down to me,” she said. “This is both of our first times in Ireland and we’ve loved it so far. We’ve never tried Guinness so we’re excited to see what it’s like.

I was told it was better to have it here,” she said. The pair have since left Ireland but have said they plan to return to do a “proper tour of the countr.
