Love Is Blind UK’s Nicole and Benaiah were central to the Netflix show’s most compelling storylines and - while it might have been anything but smooth sailing when the pair started out - they seem happier than ever one year into married life. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror and other Reach publications, the couple opened up about their decision to get married and that infamous love triangle with fellow contestant Sam. At the start of the show, hopeless romantic Nicole seemed torn between Benaiah and Sam.

While she and Benaiah seemed to have so much in common, Nicole felt she had received more reassurance from Sam about getting married. Later Sam proposed and Nicole said yes, but things seemed to cool between when they met in person, with Nicole admitting to the cameras that she had made the wrong choice. However, in our conversation with Nicole and Benaiah, the former revealed she had actually realised something was amiss before she saw Sam face-to-face.

Speaking about the exact moment she knew something wasn’t right, Nicole explained: “This is going to be hard to articulate, and hindsight is 20/20, but if I’m really honest with myself, it was in those pods when he proposed. “I knew that it just didn’t feel right. When he proposed, I said yes, and then it was me declaring my feelings for him at the time, which were real in those pods for me.

“And when he said, ‘I think I love you,’ you could actually see my face...

It clicked that something just wasn’.
