It turns out Netflix viewers were blind to some love stories. Love Is Blind UK alum Shirley revealed in an Aug. 18 TikTok that although the reality series showed six couples getting engaged in the pods, there were actually 11 couples that accepted marriage proposals.
So, who else out of the 30 contestants got down on one knee? She only named one: Sports turf maintenance director Richie , 30, who allegedly proposed to commercial contracts manager Ria , 34. Shirley explained that Richie—who she described as "soft" and "vulnerable"—was her top choice in the pods, but said he dumped her during one of their dates. "I told them how relieved I was to hear their voice on the other side of the pod," the 27-year-old shared.
"After about 30 seconds, they said, ‘Look I’m gonna be honest with you, there’s someone else I’ve been dating in the pods and I've decided to pursue my relationship with the other person.’” Shirley said she learned that Ria had said "yes" to getting engaged to Richie, but hinted there was trouble after they met in person. "I think it’s probably their business to say how they each felt at the reveal," Shirley added.
"It wasn’t that much long after that Richie then reached out. And everything after that was truly more hurtful than what had happened in the pods in the first place." Shirley noted that she's moved on and has since met a new partner with "unfathomable qualities," who she debuted on Instagram in April.
