Sunday, August 25, 2024 The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LATCB) is set to elevate the city’s global profile as a premier sports destination, culminating in its role as host for the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. This follows a prominent appearance by the board alongside Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass at last week’s Olympic flag handover ceremony in Paris, marking the official transition of the Games to LA. Adam Burke, President and CEO of LATCB, expressed excitement about the upcoming events.

“We can’t wait to roll out the red carpet for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. LA will become the third city in history and the first in the U.S.

to host the Games three times, joining Paris and London on this prestigious list. The handover ceremony not only celebrates the legacy of the Games but also boosts LA’s visibility as a leading global sports hub. Félicitations to Paris for a spectacular Olympics!” Los Angeles is poised for an exceptional decade of sports excellence, building momentum with a series of high-profile events.

The city will host the FIFA World Cup, NBA All-Star Game, and US Women’s Open Championship in 2026, followed by Super Bowl LXI in 2027. This impressive lineup will culminate with the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, cementing LA’s status as a center for world-class sporting events. This strategic positioning by the LATCB underscores LA’s commitment to enhancing its international reputation and attracting tourism.
