Kaye Adams confesses she feels as though she is “on the way out” after a family trip away over the summer. The 61-year-old Loose Women panellist jetted off to Sicily with partner Ian Campbell and children Charly, 22, and 17-year-old Bonnie. While the star says the holiday was “wonderful”, she was also faced with the realisation that she is getting older.
Kaye says her children appeared more “on the ball” while she often found herself walking around “absent-mindedly”. At one point she says she found herself struggling to track down a hire car company, before her daughter took the phone and tracked it down within a matter of seconds. Writing in Woman’s Weekly, Kaye said: “Going out with older children reminds you that you’re on the way out.
It’s like going away with your carers - they look after you. “My daughters are quicker on the ball about things, such as finding directions. We went to Sicily, and sometimes when you’re in a foreign place, you’re slightly bewildered and looking around absent-mindedly while trying to get your bearings.
They’re not very indulgent of that.” Kaye went on to say she has to make sure her daughters don’t see her as “a bit dotty” but often senses a touch of “irritation” in their voice. She confesses Charly and Bonnie are “so efficient” and plan the family’s holiday activities.
The Scottish broadcaster however says she is “wistful” that the trip could be their last family holiday together. A parti.
