Pune: Residents of Kalyaninagar have raised the pressing issue of unsafe footpaths in the area with the local ward office. The citizens have complained to civic officials about several pavement blocks coming loose, causing significant hazards for pedestrians using these public amenities. The unstable blocks have already resulted in mishaps due to the instability of the walkway, the residents claimed.
Further, they said that their repeated complaints in this regard to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have gone unaddressed in the past. Responding to the outcry, the ward officer concerned told TOI that the complaints would be addressed on an immediate basis. Elaborating on their problem, Kalyaninagar resident Monica Sharma shared, “Recently, during the rainy season, we have observed that several pavement blocks are coming loose, leading to a hazard for people walking on the footpath.
When we raised the issue with PMC Care online, they closed the complaint without solving the issue.” Another resident, Aditya Patil, said, “Despite raising complaints, it appears there hasn’t been any prompt action taken by the authorities concerned to rectify the situation. It seems that the closure of such critical issues depends solely upon waiting for further accidents or injuries to occur before intervention.
