Friday, August 30, 2024 London City Airport has unveiled a major renovation of its departure lounge, enhancing facilities with new dining options and expanded amenities for travelers. London City Airport (LCY) has taken another step forward in enhancing its facilities, with the airport recently unveiling a significant renovation of its departure lounge. Enhancing the passenger experience On August 30, the airport revealed that SSP, Lagardère Travel Retail, WHSmith, and Boots played key roles in the lounge’s refurbishment.

Travelers passing through LCY will now enjoy a completely refreshed departure lounge, featuring two newly introduced restaurants, a locally-owned café and bar, and an enlarged duty-free section. During the lounge upgrade, the airport collaborated with local businesses to highlight and support companies in the surrounding area of LCY. This initiative has led to the inclusion of several East London and British brands in the newly renovated departure lounge.

In its announcement, LCY highlighted data indicating that it is the nearest airport for the majority of Londoners, with over half of the city’s residents able to reach the airport in under an hour using public transportation. Additionally, the airport noted a shift in travel patterns, with more than half of its passengers now flying for leisure or to visit friends and family. Local lawmakers have recently given the green light for the airport’s expansion, enabling LCY to accommodate up to 9 millio.
