Wednesday, November 13, 2024 Edinburgh-based charity LifeCare is making a significant impact in its community, thanks to funding from LNER ’s Customer and Community Investment Fund (CCIF). The charity, dedicated to supporting older adults living with dementia, health challenges, or mobility issues, has successfully rolled out its “Caring Connections” project, helping approximately 180 local residents over the past year. The program also offers crucial support for unpaid carers, many of whom are older adults themselves.

Among the stories highlighted is that of Rita and her husband, David, who has been living with dementia. In a short film, Rita shares how LifeCare’s activities have provided a lifeline, giving both of them opportunities for social interaction and community engagement. Claire Montgomery, Fundraising and Communications Manager for LifeCare Edinburgh, expressed deep appreciation for LNER’s support: “We’re incredibly grateful for the generous funding from LNER’s Customer and Community Investment Fund.

The mental and physical benefits of these experiences are invaluable for the older people and dedicated carers we support. This funding has genuinely changed lives.” Rachael Wilson, LNER’s Customer and Community Manager, praised LifeCare Edinburgh’s work, stating, “The care and support LifeCare provides is second to none, allowing people to stay connected and feel valued.

LNER is proud to support a charity with such a profound impact on lives..
