A busy Cambridge road is closed today (Thursday, August 22) while police attend an incident. Brookfields has been closed to traffic - with motorists advised to avoid the area. The incident was first reported shortly after 4pm.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Please avoid Brookfields in Cambridge due to an ongoing Police Road closure in place especially the Mill Road area of Brookfields. "Find alternative routes to your destination and Cambs Police will advise when the road is reopen." A Stagecoach East spokesperson said: "Due to a safety concern on Brooks Road our Citi 2 service will not be able to serve Sainsbury's.
