Well, I am “extremely disappointed,” but not surprised, that the mayor and council did not apologize to the firefighter and reimburse him for the day’s pay for the petty decision to punish him for writing a letter expressing his opposition to council’s undemocratic decision. The decision shows little respect for first responders while doing little to respond to the problems associated with the addicted. In her carefully phrased denial of council’s responsibility, it is hard to imagine they did not have some influence on the decision.
