Before I agreed to serve as Steven Buschman’s campaign manager, I asked what his vision was for his campaign. He said it was absolutely vital that we meet voters in person at their doors, and he stressed that our focus would be on why he was clearly the most qualified candidate since he had 25-plus years experience in family court, and that there would be no negativity. I quickly realized we were on the same page.

I was honored to lead his committee to run for Cayuga County Family Court. We started knocking on doors in Auburn and in every town in our county — every single day for many months. Family members and friends devoted countless hours helping us to run a positive and energetic race to the finish.

We coordinated our door knocking so we could also support events such as fire department parades, countless pancake breakfasts, chicken barbecue dinners, local benefits, festivals and more. We made sure we answered every single request for yards signs — more than 1,000 signs were placed in yards by request. Positivity was our focus.

We realized that the last thing voters needed was yet another negative campaign! Let’s face it, we are all sick and tired of negative mailers, and commercials! We made a decision that our messages and campaign materials informed people of Steven’s 25-plus years of experience and expertise in family court; his integrity, strong work ethic, honesty and compassion for families in our community. I would like to thank the thousands of voters .
