Journey has certainly had its share of drama across the past couple of years, but the band is doing a solid job of rallying together behind frontman Arnel Pineda after he recently received criticism for his performance at Rock in Rio. The latest to come to his defense is drummer Deen Castronovo. “Arnel has RISEN to the challenge of Journey’s catalog, NIGHT after NIGHT, YEAR after tiring YEAR!” Castronovo wrote on Facebook.

“He gives to YOU ALL and Journey, the best that he can give you. Out of maybe a handful of shows in 17 years, Arnel has faced the facts. The voice is a BIOLOGICAL INSTRUMENT, subject to weather, fatigue, virus, bacteria, jet lag etc.

Sometimes it DOES NOT, CANNOT or WILL NOT cooperate when needed. So, what’s the point of hammering a human being over something they have no control over??” Castronovo then addressed “the trolls.” Legendary rock band says its set was sabotaged by headlining act Drummer for iconic ‘80s rock and pop bands dead at 73 Legendary punk/ska band’s ex-member killed in motorcycle crash Legendary rock band announces it is breaking up after more than 50 years Cause of death revealed for ‘80s child star found in car with dog “You are the blessed many,” he wrote.

“The ones who can armchair sing and trash the few that do what he does every night. They DO NOT have that luxury; they must BRING IT EACH and EVERY NIGHT or FACE YOU and your OVERINFLATED OPINIONS! If YOU can DO BETTER – then, DO IT!” Castronovo wrote.
