The tradition of featuring a “Thanksgiving Girl” in The Ledger dates back to 1960. The photo is meant to represent being thankful for all we have on this day with family. With all the hustle and bustle that goes on with preparing for Thanksgiving, we sometimes forget to take a moment to focus on being thankful for all we have.

Leading The Ledger readers in prayer for all the many blessings we are given in our wonderful community is this year’s Thanksgiving girl is 7-year-old, Andi Gasseling. AdreAnna Grace Gasseling (Andi for short) is a second grader in the Hemingford Public Schools and the daughter of Matt and Michaela Gasseling. She is the granddaughter of Tom and Jeannine Gasseling of Hemingford and Cathy and Jim Thompson of Milburn.

Andi is one of four children, her siblings are Attlee-12, Thomas (TJ)-10 and Cassidy-4. Atlee led the Thanksgiving pray in 2017. Cassidy was going to join the photo with Andi but was getting her beauty sleep.

Sending you warm wishes from home to home and from heart to heart to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! May you celebrate the day with love in your heart and gratitude in your soul. Be thankful for the clothes that fit a lit tle too snug, because it means you have enough to eat. Be thankful for the mess you clean up after a party, because it means you have been surrounded by friends and family.

Be thankful for the taxes you pay, because it means you are employed. Be thankful that your lawn needs mowing and your windows need fixing.
