Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeev on Thursday expressed deep condolences following the , the renowned industrialist and former chairman of the Tata Group. Tata, who played a pivotal role in transforming the Tata Group into India's largest conglomerate, passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, on Wednesday night.
In a Facebook post, Rajeev acknowledged Tata’s immeasurable contributions to India’s industrial landscape under his leadership. He praised Tata's vision of making luxury products accessible to common people and commended his determination to turn that dream into a reality. Beyond business, Ratan Tata's influence extended to the nation’s development, as highlighted by Rajeev.
"He aspired for the progress of the nation and its people," the minister noted, adding that Tata made significant contributions throughout various stages of his career. Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, was one of India's most respected industrialists. He led the Tata Group from 1991 until his retirement in 2012 and was subsequently named Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
Tata’s leadership marked an era of expansion and innovation for the group. Apart from his business achievements, Tata was deeply involved in philanthropy. As Chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India's largest philanthropic organisations, he focused on uplifting the less fortunate.
