Laura Rodriguez is the creative director of Amplified DSM , a podcast production house that promotes local talent. She proudly wears many hats, including fashion designer, podcaster, advocate, immigrant, wife and mother. Her very own podcast, "Undocumented Momhood," explores the challenges of being an undocumented person in America while also raising a family.

"I believe my podcast is a platform for those who don't get to be heard," Rodriguez said. Rodriguez made the decision to be vocal after her husband was wrongfully detained while in the process of attaining citizenship. Rodriguez says it was a paperwork mistake by an immigration lawyer that separated her husband from their family for nearly 70 days.

"I think that's why we became so vocal about having the right lawyers and translators and all of those things," Rodriguez said. She emphasizes that being undocumented is not a privilege, and the process to gain citizenship is lengthy and complicated, but her family has persevered, and now she prioritizes being a voice for her community so they have the resources that they need. In the meantime, she continues to live her life boldly and proudly, instilling her strength into her kids and encouraging them to embrace their culture.

"This new generation of Latino is fearless from the beginning they are born," Rodriguez said. They are rewriting the script with the hope of a better future but still never forgetting where they come from. You can stream Rodriguez's podcast and other A.
