With a luminous sun-kissed complexion and sexy, voluminous blow dry, next season’s 16Arlington girl reflects what women really want in the hair and make-up department. Natural but polished, considered yet undone, hairstylist Sam McKnight and make-up artist Lauren Parsons delivered the kind of gorgeous, glossy looks that dreams are made of on models including Devyn Garcia, Edie Campbell and Alva Claire. “I looked at pictures of Gisele from Vogue in the late ’90s and early 2000s,” McKnight explains backstage at the show.

“She’s got a lot of volume, lots of sass, but she’s still really cool. Maybe she’s been at a beach party, but her hair is rich and sexy. It’s that kind of Brazilian bombshell, voluminous blow dry.

” Spritzing his aptly named Cool Girl Superlift Root Volumising Spray (which contains a water-based polymer to sculpt and style hair), and Save The Do Heat Protection Spray into models’ roots, McKnight then used a round brush while he blow dried hair upwards. “For volume, always pull the hair upwards, or blow dry your hair when it’s upside down,” he recommends. “For this look we’re also putting velcro rollers in to add bounce and extra body.

” On shorter, afro textured hair, he worked his Love Me Do Nourishing Oil through the hair for a high-shine finish. The perfect partner to luxurious hair? Equally lustrous skin, which came courtesy of Parsons and pre-show mini facials from Katey McTavish, global education manager at Kate Somerville..
