Friday, August 16, 2024 In a significant move within the hospitality industry, Sebastian Lang and Marcus Schwander, the founding partners of Miami-based hotel interior design firm Lang & Schwander, have announced the acquisition of the historic Hotel Engadinerhof. Situated in Pontresina, a charming mountain village in southeast Switzerland, this acquisition marks a pivotal expansion for the firm into hotel ownership and management. The financial terms of the sale remain undisclosed.

The Hotel Engadinerhof, originally opened in 1905, boasts 85 keys and is a prime example of the region’s Belle Epoque architecture, surrounded by traditional stone houses that define the picturesque Swiss landscape. Located conveniently near Zurich, the hotel is easily accessible by both train and car, making it a favored destination for travelers seeking an authentic Swiss experience. Lang & Schwander, renowned for their expertise in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), will oversee a comprehensive renovation of the hotel.

The project will be led by Atelier Zürich, a distinguished Swiss interior design firm helmed by Claudia Silberschmidt. The renovation will focus on modernizing the common areas and guest rooms while preserving the hotel’s historic charm. The renovation will be carried out in phases, with completion targeted for 2026.

During this period, the hotel will remain open to guests. “This acquisition is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for us,” said Sebastian Lang. .
