Pune: NCP (SCP) state president Jayant Patil on Sunday criticised state govt for organising the “Lakhpati Didi” event in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jalgaon . Patil said the govt should have postponed the event against the backdrop of the Nepal bus accident, which claimed lives of 27 people of Jalgaon district. “The entire district is in grief over the unfortunate accident.

In such a situation, state govt is celebrating the Lakhpati Didi scheme in Jalgaon. They even invited the PM to the event,” Patil told reporters in Pune. The senior politician said, “The govt should have either avoided holding the programme or informed the PM about the situation so that he would have cancelled it on his own.

” On Sunday, PM Modi distributed certificates to several women who benefitted from the Centre’s “Lakhpati Didi” scheme. The PM also addressed a gathering of women at the venue. The NCP (SCP) leader said the govt was over-obsessed with the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana”, and it believed the scheme would help them (in the assembly elections).

“The whole govt is running behind one scheme,” he said, adding that his party was not opposed to the scheme but believed it could be implemented in a better way. Patil, who has served as the finance minister of Maharashtra in the past, said officials of the finance ministry were under pressure after the launch of this scheme. “The govt has cut or stopped funds for several existing schemes.
