Popular Nigerian self-acclaimed sex therapist, Hauwa Mohammed, better known as Jaruma, has opened up on how she was introduced to hard drugs. Jaruma’s confession is coming after a year she went off the radar of social media over alleged mental health issues. Sunday Telegraph recalls that it was widely rumoured in March 2023 that Jaruma was under rehabilitation in Abuja for substance abuse.

Jaruma, who runs a sex enhancement brand, disclosed this after a video of her looking distressed went viral online. Speaking on her journey of substance abuse with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jaruma stressed that a famous Lagos plastic surgeon and her friend led her to drug addiction. I was trying to get a job and earn a regular income. “I made some mistakes after being in the spotlight. I never got involved in drugs during my secondary school and university days because I was the only child of my mother.

“One day, a friend who I knew was into drugs (marijuana) invited me to hang out. We were chilling together, and she offered me the marijuana, but I refused, saying I was okay. “She then asked me how I relax since I don’t smoke or drink, mentioning that every cele.
