Labcorp ( LH ) processes around 500 tests a month for mpox, also known as monkeypox, but has the ability to scale up to approximately 25K a month. The company is working with US healthcare officials to determine if it needs to increase capacity, according to Reuters .

The World Health Organization recently declared mpox a public health emergency amid the emergence of a more contagious variant of the virus, which is related to smallpox. Other providers of mpox testing services or products include Quest Diagnostics ( DGX ), Roche ( OTCQX:RHHBY ) and Abbott ( ABT ). Co-Diagnostics ( CODX ) and Applied DNA Sciences ( APDN ).
