Former Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has opened up about his sobriety, including describing himself as "an entirely different person" since having given up alcohol . The actor, 37 - who played Jon Snow in all eight seasons of the HBO show - has previously shared that he checked into a rehab facility in 2019. He's also discussed having struggled with his mental health and is quoted as having once said that he had a "breakdown" after the fantasy show ended.

Kit has now discussed his sobriety in a new interview. He told GQ Hype that he was "so lucky" to have got sober before welcoming his two children with his wife Rose Leslie , who had played his character Jon's love interest Ygritte. He said that at one time in his life, it had felt "physically and emotionally impossible" for him not to drink again.

Now sober though, he shared with the outlet that the fact he can be "proud" of getting sober is "an achievement" in itself. He recalled: "Because before getting sober, I would stare in the mirror and call myself a c**t." The actor said that he would "hate" and "despise" himself back then, adding that he used to not be proud of "anything" that he had done.

"So the fact that I am proud of getting sober is in and of itself a mark of being an entirely different person," he said. Kit added that he's now "proud" of every project because he knows that he put "everything into it," unlike before when it felt like something was "weighing [him] down". Further discussing his life now, Kit.
