The King and Queen were swiftly evacuated from an open-air event in Jersey today following a security alert. Charles and Camilla had to abruptly end their visit at Weighbridge Place, where they were attending their third engagement of the day, and were escorted to safety inside the nearby Pomme D'or hotel. After a pause of about 20 minutes, the Royal couple re-emerged to greet local schoolchildren before joining a tea party as honoured guests.

A Royal insider commented: "There was a small issue of concern, an investigation turned out to be a false alarm, every precaution was taken and the programme resumed shortly afterwards", reports the Mirror .
