Kinahan gangster Liam Roe is being laid to rest in Dublin after losing his battle with an aggressive form of cancer he was diagnosed with just a matter of months ago. Roe, 44, who died from cancer in a Dublin hospital on Tuesday, was named in court as a trusted lieutenant of a Kinahan mob boss. His funeral took place in his native Dublin 12 this morning.

A steady stream of people attended the funeral home on Wednesday to pay their respects to Roe, who was known as Bop. Among the mourners were Sadie Byrne, the mother of slain David Byrne. Roe died in St James’ Hospital in south central Dublin on Tuesday morning – days after he was admitted for treatment.

A death notice for him posted online said: “Beloved son of Seamus and the late Ann. Liam will be sadly missed by his loving dad, his heartbroken partner Niamh, adored stepchildren Mia and Ashton, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and a wide circle of friends.
