Most folks think America has mastered science because we are putting out so much amazing technology today. Have you ever heard of the Dark Ages? The Dark Ages are the 1,000 years or so when Europe fell into monarchy and couldn’t get out of it. Natural science and social science became unpopular. Education went south.
Libraries fell into disuse or were destroyed. The only thing the people had to know was how and when to do what the king said to do. It took a scientific revolution to get out of the mess that monarchy created in Europe.
