Recent months have been difficult for Kate Garraway and this summer is no exception as she will only have memories to comfort her on the 20th anniversary of her first meeting with Derek Draper . The pair have enjoyed one of the strongest marriages in showbiz but tragedy struck when the psychotherapist and political lobbyist passed away in early January, 2024, at the age of 56 years old, following a long battled with Covid-19. Derek contracted the virus in its first wave, back in March, 2020, but the illness took a toll on his health and severely weakened him.

Since his passing, however, crises have piled up for his wife Kate Garraway , both financial and personal.
